Nigeria’s finest sports lawyer, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku this Friday visited the camp of the country’s female U17 team, the Flamingos ahead of tomorrow’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup third round, second clash between Nigeria and Egypt at the Petrosports Stadium, Cairo.
The Flamingos having condemned their Egyptian counterpart to a 4-0 defeat in Abuja last week Sunday were having a stretch out at their hotel pitch in Cairo when Amobi visited and urged the ladies not to be complacent about the first leg result but rather go all out again for victory.
“I’m happy to be with you all today and it gives me great honour to see ladies flying the country’s flag high”, Amobi said.
“Indeed, your 4-0 win in Abuja shows you’re one leg into the final round of qualifiers in the African series for the World Cup in India. I am hereby urging you to continue your good form and remain focused as it was only the first half you played in Abuja, the second half is now here in Cairo and you must do Nigerians proud again”, the former Rangers Intl General Manager concluded.
While responding to Barr. Amobi’s visit and gesture of gifting the team 100 dollars, Captain, Alvine Dah-Zossu said she and her teammates know the magnitude of the game and are willing to seal up the win in Cairo.
“Thank you for the love, I want to promise you on behalf of the team that we will make you and all Nigerians proud tomorrow”, Alvine said.
The match is set for the Petrosports Stadium as from 10pm on Saturday, 30th April. The winner on aggregate will qualify for the final round of the African series, where it will await the winner of the Ethiopia/South Africa fixture. The Ethiopian girls trounced their South African counterparts 3-0 away in Johannesburg in the first leg.
This year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will hold in India, 11th – 30th October.
