Revealed: NFF Sent Emmanuel Dennis AFCON Invitation Late To Watford

Following the confirmation that Emmanuel Dennis will not be part of the Super Eagles party to the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Watford manager, Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that the club got the player’s invitation late from the NFF.

Dennis scored the opening goal in Watford’s 4-1 loss to West Ham, the eighth of his debut season in English football, but Ranieri believes that Nigeria missed a deadline to advise the club that the striker was under consideration for the AFCON.

“The email didn’t arrive at the right moment. The national team has a time to send a pre-call. They didn’t respect the days, and I want to see.”

Czech Republic –based forward Peter Olayinka has been called up to replace Dennis.

The 33rd Africa Cup of Nations finals will end on 6th February in Yaoundé Cameroon.
