Credible Feat As Ogunniyi Omojesu Hit Pass Mark In First Season In Europe


“He needs to adapt to a new environment” is the popular cliche once a footballer moves from one environment to another. 

For Ogunniyi Omojesu Timilehin, the former Sunshine Stars forward found life interesting to come by when he joined Latvian side, Spartaks Jurmala ahead of the commencement of the 2020/21 season. 

11 wins, 2 draws and 15 losses were the numbers in which Spartaks Jurmala posted as they finished 5th with 35 points in the Latvia Higher League for the just concluded season. 

And of course, the Badig sports management product proved instrumental for his side. 

With his brilliant link up play, touches and an eye for key passes, Omojesu’s left foot magic and dribbles were a problem for teams he faced during the just concluded season.

Little wonder, he was able to reach eight assists and one goal in 1,782 minutes of football. 

Ogunniyi also featured in four team of the week selections inside his 22 league appearances while he also had the privilege of captaining his side in some games.


While there is more to improve on the youngster’s overall play, the signs are there for him to develop to the finished product of a top player, this, he admitted while speaking on his season performance in Latvia. 

“I need to work harder and learn how to finish better in front of goal. Yes, I am happy with my first season in Europe but there are still loads of work to be done”, Omojesu told TheVitalNews. 

Omojesu, mainly a free role player can operate on either flank and anywhere on the offensive spine of the team. His incredible skill set allows for tactics to be changed at a whim in the full knowledge that the youngster will put in a stellar performance regardless of his position on the pitch.

Indeed, a pass mark for the VIA academy boy in his first season in Europe with Spartaks Jurmala.
