Malomo Taofeek scored as Shooting Stars football club of Ibadan started off their Nigeria National League, NNL Super 8 playoff with a 2-1 win over Bendel Insurance.
Playing at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu, the Edith Agoye led side found themselves behind to an Insurance penalty as scored by Daniel Johnson but never panicked and kept to their shape to get an opening day win.
Malomo Taofeek started the comeback when he beautifully slotted a through ball into the right hand side of the goalkeeper who had little chance of keeping it out due to the technique of the finish.
The winner would however come in the 83rd minute when Gafaar Olafimihan drifted into the box for a cutback to Raheem Nofiu to hit into an unguarded net.
The win now sees Shooting Stars with 3pts as they hope for NPFL Qualification.
