OFFICIAL: Feyenoord Signs Bernardo Silva

Feyenoord have announced the signing of Bernardo Neves Jesus Gouveia Silva, aka Bernardo Silva on a deal until 2022 with an option of another two years.

The 19-year-old midfielder from Portugal will be a direct reinforcement for the Under-21 team of the Rotterdammers.

Feyenoord Transfermarkt, which is usually close to the fire, reports that Bernardo Silva is back in Rotterdam and that he will sign his contract in De Kuip tomorrow.

Feyenoord does not have to pay a transfer fee for the 19-year-old talent, who will initially join the U21 team led by trainer Rini Coolen. Bernardo Silva, not to be confused with his Manchester City namesake, is ‘a direct reinforcement’ for Coolen.

Trainer Dick Advocaat has been hoping for reinforcements for the first team for some time, but for the time being technical director Frank Arnesen is trying to strengthen the second team with a view to the future. The upcoming transfer of Francesco Antonucci, who will in all probability be taken over from AS Monaco, is an example of this.
