A lack of intentional development system has been described as the bane of Nigeria age grade football to replicate its FIFA U17 World Cup success at the U20 level.
Mikky Nsien, the manager of FC Tulsa, a second division side in the USA with three Nigerians on their payrol stated this in an interview on Nigeria Sport Mouthpiece, NSM Rebrandrd this Wednesday.
“It’s a lack of intentional development, players are growing at a very good speed but what Nigeria hasn’t done is to capture why and how they’re developing and how do they intentionally and deliberately organize players who can go through a system that’s coordinated”, he said.
“There hasn’t been a coordinated system which we know that these players will excel in this system”.
“To have a consistent ladder of progression for the players to succeed based on their skill set, we need to capitalize on a working system”, he concluded.
Mikky Nsien is the coach of Mfon Udoh and Solomon Kwambe in the USA and once played for the youth teams of Nigeria.
