BREAKING: Tottenham Hotspur's Midfielder Eric Dier Banned for Four matches


Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has been banned for four matches and fined £40,000 by the FA over an altercation with a fan after Tottenham penalty shootout FA Cup defeat  to Norwich city in March 4.

Following the penalty shootout at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, video footage showed the England international Dier climbing in to the stands to confront a fan before he was restrained by security guards.

However, The FA has opted to punish Dier for a breach of FA rule E3.


" Eric Dier has been suspended for four matches with immediate effect,fined £40,000 and warned as to his future conduct following a breach of FA Rule E3"the FA said in a statement, ".

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder admitted that his actions were improper but denied that they were also threatening.

However, an Independent regulatory commission subsequently found them to be threatening.

Dier's absence will be a blow for Spurs in the pursuit of European football next season as he has been an impressive performer in central defence since the season restarted last month.
