If No Agreement Is Reached Before June 23, Cedric Soares Could Leave Arsenal Without Playing A Single Game, Here Is Why

Arsenal are likely to lose Cedric Soares as a bosman, if a deal could not be reached for a short term extension.

Soares joined the Gunners on loan from Southampton in January but has yet to play for the north London club.

The right-back was brought in as cover for Hector Bellerin, but arrived with a knee injury, which Arsenal hoped would only see him ruled out for around three weeks.

Soares could now leave the Gunners without playing a single game for the club as his loan is due to expire on June 30 having not featured in two of the club’s friendly against Charlton and Brentford.

A short-term deal has yet to be agreed and although Arsenal, who have seven league games to play after June 30 as well as two potential fixtures in the FA Cup, are hopeful of an agreement, Soares must weigh up the risks involved in playing games beyond that date due to the fact he becomes a free agent this summer.

Arsenal paid Southampton a loan fee of just under £1 million for Soares in January and agreed to cover his wages, believed to be around £65,000 a week, for the rest of the campaign.

If he is to stay at the Emirates for a short term extension, all parties must agree to the deal on or before June 23
